Ka ulana i ka pâpale
`O ke kui lei pua `ala lâ
A `o ia kona makemake
Aia ma kona lumi lâ
He noho paipai nui
He mea ho`oluliluli lâ
I kâna lei mo`opuna
Ha`ina mai ka puana lâ
No ku`u tûtû aloha
E lohe mau `ia ana lâ

Her beckoning call

A calico holokü
Big-sleeved mu`umu`u
The silk handerchief
Are her adornments
A patchwork quilt
Weaving a hat
Sewing a fragrant lei
It’s her enjoyment
There is her room
A big rocking chair
To rock
Her beloved grandchild
Tell the refrain
Of my beloved grandmother
Her beckoning call
Will always be heard
