Tazana - Words & Music by Elizabeth Kuauhia

He kua, he inoa no Tazana
O ka ilima wikani pukonakona

Ke lawe ia ala e ka ʻenemi
No ana i ka ʻāina malihini

ʻAʻole i hopo iho no Tazana
O ka lima koko a`o kau e ka weli

Weliweli na hana ke ʻike aku
|O nei lima koko he aloha ʻole

Haʻina ʻia mai ana ka puana
He kau, he inoa no Tasana

It's yours, the name of Tarzan
Of the strong and mighty arm

Brought there to the enemy
Staying in a strange land

No doubt but that Tarzan's
Bloody hand will fill (them) with terror

Numerous the deeds known
Of that bloody hand that has no love (for the enemy)

The story is told
It's yours, the name of Tarzan

Source: Hillier Collection "Genoa Keawe by Request" album - Written as a tribute to her husband who she compared to the comic book character, Tarzan, when he (Mrs. Kuahuia's husband) went to serve in World War II and was taken prisoner. Her faith was justified and he returned safe. The composer, from Miloliʻi, asked Genoa Keawe to record this song in 1956. The artist complied and dedicated this song to all the people of Miloliʻi.
